Heartbreaker, always (Taken with instagram)
I know I talk about Mad Mule a lot, but I’ve also been drumming in a band with my long time friend, and frequent musical collaborator Duncan in a band called The Striped Bananas. We’ve been making music since 2006 in a variety of projects. I remember multiple conversations between the two of us saying how it was both our life goal for music we made to one day be pressed on vinyl.
Looks like we might finally be doing it, and funny enough, it’s together. UPDATES TO COME!
About to lay down in bed, throw on a pair of headphones, and drop the needle on a record. Time to relax.

John Coltrane - I’ll Wait and Pray
I recently ripped this album from vinyl. It’s amazing that something from 1961 still sounds this incredible.
BOO! HISS! I VERY STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH THESE POINTS!
Especially the sound quality ones. Seriously. That’s … I mean, he’s not wrong about these issues existing. But the idea that any of these things actually makes vinyl inferior to digital is absurd. Yeah, ideally every track on the album would be the first track. But the sound depreciation at the inner portion of the record does NOT EVEN REMOTELY COMPARE to the sound depreciation one hears going from vinyl to CD or digital. I can’t even hear the difference between the first and last tracks on a side. (Granted, I’m not an audiophile.) I can instantly tell the difference between whether you’ve just put on a record or CD.
And cleaning your needle ever couple records and running an anti-static brush over each side right before playing takes literally about 10-20 seconds. (And you CAN AND SHOULD TOTALLY CHANGE YOUR STYLUS once it’s needed.) Totally worth it, dude.
Yeah, if you want to dance and don’t want to ruin your music, it’s a lot safer to go with another format. Otherwise, vinyl wins and you’re wrong wrong wrong WRONG.
This just in: you’re awesome.
He makes a few valid points, but I think we can all find the happy medium between hard copies and digital, a point that Mr. Boilen I believe is discounting.
